Hey Sam,
I'm down to kick in the minimal set of controls that I've come up with (screenshot can be found here: http://yellowcup.net/images/mce_screen_full.png). I sent IgnoranceIsBliss a private message awhile back offering to contribute to MCMLookalike, but I'm not sure he ever read it since the email alert system here doesn't seem to be working.

''We'd be having a different sort of discussion if all you could do was
leverage our built in controls -- the inflexibility inherent in that
approach would have you clamoring for the flexibility you now possess.''I agree - but why not include the built-in controls for them that wish to use them. Those that want to create their own from scratch ...

I gotta say I agree with the above posts. Not having a supported, native UI library definitely forced me to learn a lot about MCML when creating my own controls, and believe it or not, I am thankful for that.Having said that, I feel like I could have learned MCML just as thouroughly if a native UI library were made available. Any chance you'd like to share what undocumented API classes/calls you're using to get this information? I'm desperate to get the currently-watched filename but I'm not sure I want to go the ntdll route - it seems like like it might be a bit flaky.

What about when multiple instances of Media Center are in use (i.e. Computer, Extender1, Extender2)? If all 3 are currently watching a different show, how can you identify which instance is watching which show? Also, will this still work if UAC is enabled but the service is running under the system account? Thanks.

Gotcha. Thanks for considering this in the future Charlie.

Ungood. Someone please tell me this is possible but is just undocumented...

Thanks for the clarification guys.OK, well that was an easy decision. It's obvious MCML is the proper choice in my case. Do any of you know if there are any MCML books available? I searched amazon but came up fruitless. Thanks again.

I typically do my binding in markup - unless its more complex or just makes sense to use code-behind. Does MCML not allow you to modify the UI from code? Can you provide a little more detail about the ''better integration w/ Media Center'' that MCML provides? Thanks for the quick reply!
