    CodePlex "tips and tricks" project

I'm starting up a CodePlex project that will be a repository for "tips and tricks" for using MCML.  If anyone has any contributions they would like to make, please let me know and I'll add you as a contributor.

Basically, I want to make a simple single location for people to go to for example code, difficult to work out bits of MCML, sample controls (very basic, to use for learning rather than re-use), etc.

As well, if you have examples that you would like to see, but don't have code for, let me know and I'll see if we can get something done for them.  Bear in mind this is all voluntary stuff, and not going to be a bunch of templates to put directly into your apps, rather examples of how to approach things.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Not sure if you remember but last year Olcay and myself posted a bunch of free-to-use controls on Codeplex, MCMLSamples. Not sure if it would help you and your project, but it's still available for everyone.

I'd forgotten about that, but definitely wanted this to be a growing collection of "examples" rather than re-usable controls.

Sounds good, Andrew, I'd be happy to contribute if you let me have the details.

Why not do this as a wiki instead? I think the format might make it easier for everyone in the community to contribute.

Do you know how to set one up? :)

You could also just post this stuff on StackOverflow it has lots of wiki like features and the mediacenter tag is pretty barren at the moment

Disadvantage is that its not super organized

Ideally this website [sandbox] would be upgraded to CommunityServer 2008.5 which includes Wiki-like features and "groups" which would make this very easy - and everything would be in one place. Alternatively, I'd be happy to offer up a "group" with full wiki/forum/media-library capabilities on the myTV website.

I spoke with Charlie about that before he moved roles - his suggestion was codeplex.

I like the idea of a wiki - I'll drop a note to Steve (Charlie's replacement) to see if he is amenable to the upgrade.

An upgrade would be great, I assume it would also address the requests/issues in these two threads too:

I'd like to see it here if Steve can get an upgrade. To me that just makes sense.

Either way, I'd be happy to contribute.

Almost forgot; It should really be "HACKS, tips and tricks" :p

I've emailed Steve, and will update when I hear anything.
