Important Community Update - Moving To Windows Live ID

We are moving to the latest and greatest version of Community Server in the April / May timeframe and will also be moving the hosting of the servers in-house here at Microsoft which should be a welcome change for most of you because some of the built in features (like email notifications) will begin working. Yay!

At that time the site will transition from the current Community Server based authentication to Windows Live ID. If you already have one of these...

    • Microsoft Passport
    • Hotmail
    • Messenger
    • MSN Account

...you already have a Windows Live ID and need to do nothing further until we move over to the new system. If you need to get a Windows Live ID visit http://login.live.com/ and select the 'Sign up for an account' link.

We will have a process in place which allows you to affiliate your current Community Server user name to Live ID so all of the good 'stuff' you have posted to date will remain and your screen name remains the same.

    Charlie

Is this still planned?  It'd be really helpful to have email notifications.

    Thanks

I can hear it now - "Oops, sorry, you can't have that server any more, we need it for the Windows 7 development team."

Just bringing this back to the top of the list in the hope that it might get noticed :-)
